Diplomacy ~ GooberStyle

Alright. Our girl has been a little neglectful lately, but that doesn't mean Stella and I have not been keeping ourselves stimulated.

We've been fueding over this aMAZing flamingo Noah and his sissies sent us from the Land Down Under at the beginning of the year.

I love this flamingo so much that I took him with me on my roadtrip to New York.

Up until recently all in the land of GooberStan acknowledged that I had MAJOR dibs on this little guy. Stella would play with him, but only when I was asleep or otherwise occupied.

She knew not to disturb a flamingo-focused goob in the middle of his flamingo worship.

All of that changed this week, however.

Every chance she has gotten, she's been dogging me and my Aussie mingo bud.

Tugging, growling... you know, talkin' lots of trash...

and going to the mattresses over that flamingo...

until something fortuitous happened.

His head popped off!

Now Stella has HER piece of the mingo,

and I have MINE!

Needless to say, Stella is STINKIN' happy about that. That's what we in the country-running business call diplomacy.

Goober love,
Stanley

Flamingos v Gnomes

It is a well-known fact that I have an immense respect for pink flamingos, and...

... you would have thought that flamingos could really kick some gnome booty.

funny pictures of cats with captions

You would have been wrong.

On a brighter note, we received an award!!! Buster, Sephie & Bailey the Kerry Blue Terriers passed this fun award on to us!

The award states: "This blog invests and believes in PROXIMITY -- nearness in space, time and relationships!" In other words, blogs that receive this award "are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

We'll Go 'Round in Circles from Goober Stan on Vimeo.

Thank you Sephie, Buster & Bailey! We will proudly display this award and share it with these goober friends:

Madison, Ruby, Winnie Woo, Janie the Airegirl, Mr. T-Bone Beaseley, Sherman Penny & Lola, Bob T. Bear esq, and Dilly! We love you guys!

Just Can't Get Enough

As the year is winding down to a close, we have a whole list of things we want to do before it's over. One more wrasslin' session (at LEAST)!

Followed by one last wrasslin' injury. (Not to worry. It's only a minor scratch from Stella's razor teeth.)

An end-of-the-year nose poke.

A good-bye 2008 smooch!

A celebratory snack.

A final winter morning walk. (Please ignore our girl's voice. We usually do.)

Walking in GooberStan from Goober Stan on Vimeo.

And a year-end session of stuffie therapy with my beloved flamingo goober ~ Flamoober.

I also decided to sneak in one

last

snuggle.

All of us in GooberStan hope you all have a safe New Year's celebration and a spectacular 2009! And, we're taking this last opportunity of 2008 to tell you that we love all of our pup, kitty, and hammie friends and we're glad we can share our lives with you!

Poetry in Motion

As is known by many, I am a flamingo fan. I am also a fan of the cold weather!

When those 2 things come together, I am a goob who likes to be in constant motion.

I've even been told (well, I've told myself) that I am poetry in motion!

The blurrier the photo, the more poetic.

Of course, Stella's training as a poetess is still an ongoing endeavor. Like all great teachers, I ask my pupil to begin by mastering the basics.

Young Grasshopper shows promise. She has even shorn her hair as a sign of devotion. If she can de-stick me from between my back legs she will graduate eventually to... pinecones.

A little solitary stick work to cleanse the body and the soul.

This girl's a LONG way from flamingos.

Love,

Stanley

Steroid Flamingo

I have to apologize to all of you for my girl. She has been remiss in helping me visit the blogs of all of my friends, and I thought I was working my way up to never forgiving her until she brought home the most magnificent stuffie I've ever seen.

I KNOW, man! Can you believe it?! My hooman girl really is the premiere stuffie huntress of all time! She finds the most curiously amazing and freakishly large stuffies I could ever imagine. (Some brain-addled hooman pup gave him to a thrift store where my girl simply scooped him up. I don't get hoomans sometimes.)

Since he (my gargantuan flamingo friend) and I have just met, we're going to spend a little time getting to know one another before I give him a name.

Whatdya think? Should I skip the preliminaries and just bestow upon him a goober name already? Maybe Flamoober? Or, do you have a name suggestion for me?

Let me just say that Flamoober has already made it clear that he has NEVER ever taken performance enhancing drugs, nor has he ever dealt with Roid Rage. Don't let the post title fool you into thinking he's enhanced in any way. He's all natural... and he's ALL MINE! (See? He's already willing to cuddle with me. What more could I want?)

Viva la flamingo,

Stanley

Flamingo Club

Bogart told me about a restaurant he found in Portland called Cafe Mingo. Well, look what my girl found.

The first thing on the sign that caught my eye (after the flamingos) was that the Flamingo Club has a lunch buffet on Fridays. That sounds promising. I also noticed that they have exotic dancers. Well hey! I'm exotic, and I can dance, and I have my flamingo at the ready...

My girl pointed out that the club proprietors would probably think I was underage, even for the Friday lunch buffet. I'm almost 2 1/2! I bet if I turn on the old goober charm they'll let me slide right on in for that buffet.

Sorry about the blurry photo. I'm afraid my youthful exuberance took my photographer by surprise!

Frolicking Goob

Lately, I've been doing a lot of what my hooman girl calls "frolicking" in the crisp morning aire. Now that he's back in action, my favorite companion on these romps is my faithful (though headless) flamingo. As you can see, I generally prefer my flamingo protruding from the left side of my mouth like a cigar.

I wasn't convinced that I'm a frolicker, but my girl busted out this definition.

frol·ic Spelled Pronunciation[frol-ik] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation noun, verb, -icked, -ick·ing, adjective
–noun
1. merry play; merriment; gaiety; fun.
2. a merrymaking or party.
3. playful behavior or action; prank. –verb (used without object)
4. to gambol merrily; to play in a frisky, light-spirited manner; romp.
5. to have fun; engage in merrymaking; play merry pranks. –adjective
6. merry; full of fun.

Yep. That's me.

The rest of these photos are pretty blurry (because I'm frolicking... DUH).

Occassionally I let my flamingo protrude from the right side of my mouth, just to mix things up.

This photo essay brought to you from the photo archives of GooberStan.

Love,
Stanley
