GooberStanian Beard Competition

Today marks an important day in GooberStan. We are naming the winners in our First Annual Beard Competition in honor of my Dale buddy, Dovah Doo, the longest beard bearer in GooberStan. He went to the Rainbow Bridge very suddenly in October, and I miss him something terrible! Here is his juicy 8 inch beard in all its glory!

So, without further ado, here are our entrants!

Stella my sissy (Lakeland Terrier) ~ .75 inches

Asta Up Over (Wire Fox Terrier) ~ almost 2 inches

Stanley [me] (Airedale Terrier) ~ 2.5 inches

Jackson (Wire Fox Terrier) ~ 3 inches

Gertrude (Airedale Terrier) ~ 3.56 inches

Molly (Airedale Terrier) ~ 4 inches

Noah (Airedale Terrier) ~ 4.25 inches

Maggie (Airedale Terrier) ~ 4.5 inches

Willow (Airedale Terrier) ~ 4.5 inches

Bogart (Airedale Terrier) ~ 5 inches

Now for our runner up!

If for some reason the winner of the Longest Beard portion of the contest is unable to perform their duties, then the first runner up will assume the title and role of Longest Beard Winner. Our first runner up for the Longest Beard in the First Annual GooberStanian Beard Competition is... a tie between Persephone the Kerry Blue Terrier & her mama, Bailey; both at 5.5 inches! Well done ladies!

Ms. Bailey (Kerry Blue Terrier) ~ 5.5 inches

Persephone (Kerry Blue Terrier) ~ 5.5 inches

Now please join me in giving a big round of applause to the winner of our Longest Beard portion of the contest... BUSTER the Kerry Blue Terrier! Way to go, Buster! That's one mighty fine beard you have there. Congratulations!

Buster (Kerry Blue Terrier) ~ 5.75 inches

We had 6 entrants in the Most Improved Beard portion of the competition. Following are their stats:

Stanley (me) ~ 3 inches to 2.5 inches (-.5 inch difference)
Noah ~ 3.14 inches to 4.25 inches (1.11 inch difference)

Willow ~ 3.14 inches to 4.5 inches ( 1.36 inch difference)

Gertrude ~ 1.56 inches to 3.19 inches (1.63 inch difference)

Now for our runner up!

If for some reason the winner of the Most Improved Beard portion of the contest is unable to perform their duties, then the first runner up will assume the title and role of Most Improved Beard Winner. Our first runner up for the Most Improved Beard in the First Annual GooberStanian Beard Competition is...

Maggie the Airedale ~ 2.5 inches to 4.5 inches (2 inch difference)! Way to go, girlie!

And our winner of Most Improved Beard goes to...

Molly the Airedale ~ 1.56 inches to 3.93 inches (2.37 inch difference)!

Congratulations, Molly! Your hard work sure shows. Please feel free to share your beard growing secrets with us!

I end with this very sweet photo of Noah's mama measuring him for the contest. Now, everydoggie (and hammie & kitty) say awwwwwwww. The Miss Congeniality Award goes to Noah for being such a doll during his measuring process!

Congratulations to

Buster the Kerry Blue Terrier for Longest Beard

and

Molly the Airedale Terrier for Most Improved Beard!

A big thank you goes out to all the dogs who entered, and to all their hoomans for combing out & measuring the beards. I'm sure that Dovah Doo is smiling down on us all!

Goober Love,
Stanley the Beardless of GooberStan

Wowie! This competition was such fun!! We loved all the photos and the beards were impressive. It was a tough competition, but those Kerry blues definately took the title!

Thank you for the honour - we enjoyed taking part. We are a little ashamed because we think our beard measurements may have been altered somewhere along the way, but hey ho - a beard's a beard, right?

As for beard-growing tips - I'm not sure, but I have written a couple on my blog....haven't a clue if they will work though.

Love Molly and Gertrude
xx

What a fun contest! Alas, we are not bearded in my house. Maybe we could have a contest I could win, like largest cranium. Or most impressive leg to belly circumference ratio.

CONGRATULATIONS to ALL of them!!!! Even though all of them didn't win the titles, they all are still winners! I wish I had a beard than I could join too. But hey, what do you say if you start another competition which other doggies in blogger can join too? What about the 'Longest Ear' or the 'Longest Tail'?

I am so jealous of everyones beard. My mom trims mine often because she says I don't keep it clean enough. And I ask her, Who's fault could that be Mom. Great beards everyone. Love,Neko
