Merv on Demand

A few of you (a very few of you) have been jonesin' for news of my catbro, Merv. So, by popular demand, here he is in all of his feline gooberocity.

Recently, he mistook a pair of my girl's crinkly hiking pants for a snuggle sack.

She couldn't find him until she went to actually wear the pants. He obviously had other plans for them.

He has also been working covertly on his balance beam routine between the shower curtains.

That is going to have to satisfy your Merv fix for now.

Love,

Stanley

Sassy

This is my sweet buddy, Sassy the Airegirl! Look at her smiley face! She was a happy rescue girl who always had that smile on her fuzz face.

Here she is with her brother, Beard Grower ExtraordinAire, Dovah Doo. They were wrasslin partners as well as siblings.

We found out this past week that Sassy Girl unexpectedly went to the Rainbow Bridge to be with her brothers Dovah Doo & Mackie Boy! She was eleven years old, and was one of my girl's fave pups of all time. (She reminded my girl of her first rescue Dale, Rosie.)

Here's a photo of Sassy with her mama, giving her a smooch. She LOVED her mama, and she had a special bond with my girl too. If Sassy was already at the dog park when we arrived, as soon as she heard my girl's voice she came RUNNING from wherever she was, at top speed, so she could give some love and receive an Atomic Booty Scratch in return. (My girl perfected the Atomic Booty Scratch by using Sassy as her very willing guinea pig.)

We will NEVER forget our sweet Sassy girl and the mark she's made on our hearts! We miss her something AWFUL!

Loving our Sassy,
Stanley

Gimme a Break

Often, when I move in to give my sissy, Stella, a nice little snuggle, I am met with much high-pitched squeaking and gnashing teeth.

Well, it's Tuesday, which means it's time to do some snuggle work with Eduardo, our bud the snuggle Puggle. Knowing how unsnuggly my sissy can sometimes be, I present you with a short 3-photo essay on how I feel about the subject.

Aww, STINK! For the power of the paw (and the snuggles) I'll go in for the clinch with Stella. We're sending out snuggles to Jamie and her pups Sunny & Scooter, and especially to Jamie's mama Anna (who is getting a new pacemaker)! We hope you all feel the love and the healing power of friends who care. Stop on by to let them know you're thinking about them or praying for them.

For the sake of the cause,
Stanley

Brother from the Same Mother

Hey, blogging frens! I have some news about a long lost relative and was hoping you would help me spread the word. Are you up for it?

I just found out that a brother of mine, born from the same dog mama and dog dad a year before me, is now up for adoption. You'll never guess what his name is either. It's STANLEY! Can you believe it?! I have 2 big brothers named Stanley! Here's his mugshot. Isn't he a cutie?

Do you see the family resemblance? (This is me, in case you couldn't tell.)

This is Stanley from another angle. He has the same coloring as I, and he's just a little bit bigger than I am, weighing in at 14 pounds. He's house trained and knows some basic commands.

Here's an action shot of me, so you can compare our coloring.

His owners gave him up because they said he was such a ball of energy they couldn't keep up with him. I think they didn't have the capacity to appreciate all of his gooberocity and fun-loving attitude.

Now, I want YOU to spread the word about my other brother, Stanley the Lakeland. He was rescued from a shelter by the same rescue group that saved my life, and if you want more information about adopting him or who to contact if you have questions, you can find that here.

Who knows! Maybe you could be adopted by a gorgeous Lakeland just like my girl was! Thanks for any help you can give in getting my brother his furever home!

Goobery love,

Stella Bean Latifah

Missing My Hammies

There is no easy way to say this. I'm missing my hammies something awful! Today would be Girl Girl's birthday. My sweet hammie friend with the big bootiful eyes left for the Rainbow Bridge at the end of the summer...
and then one month ago our sweet hammie bud, Moosie unexpectedly left for the Rainbow Bridge to be with her BFF, Girl Girl.
Each of these hammies were extraordinary in their own ways and have left their unique marks on our hearts! Girl Girl was an accomplished athlete ~ she liked boxing and
gymnastics. She was a faithful friend to Stella & I, and was the very first hammie I had ever known. She gave the best little hammie smooches, and she always made me laugh.

Princess Mooskeeta (Moosie to her friends) was younger than Girl Girl, but just as sweet a hammie as you will ever meet!

She and her big brother, Huskee Boy, had a very close relationship.

And she was a great correspondent, always writing to me, and giving me the nickname Stan Stan!

She was a bit of a daredevil just like her mentor and BFF, Girl Girl.

Here is a rare photo of the two of them together. I like to think that they're running through the fields at the Rainbow Bridge together, wild and free!

We here in GooberStan will never forget sweet Girl Girl and sweet Moosie! You two hammies will always be in our hearts!
Goober love,
Stanley

Bits & Pieces

Stanley rarely lets me post, but here I am today, because he was so excited for me to tell you about my new frens! Our girl's co-worker has 2 crazy goober dogs too, and this is the Corgi girl, Bits. I was invited to her house for a little playdate yesterday. Doesn't she have FABULOUS ears?!

Bits was a little shy at first, so I toned my Stella essence way down so she would feel more comfortable with me.

I also employed the use of a nickname, and once I started calling her Bitsy Boo Boo she started to warm right up to the idea of being my fren!

We kept it pretty mellow except for one short interlude of no-touch wrasslin (which my girl was too in awe of to catch on film).

Bits then asked if I wanted to meet her big hairy brother, Pieces. He's a high energy no-personal-space kind of Golden Retriever. I said, "Bring it on, sistah!"

As you can see from this photo, Pieces is a goob of the highest order.

He tried to overwhelm me with his gooberness, but luckily I have much experience dealing with ultra large goober pups. I whipped him into shape in no time.

We even played Queen of the stairs, and I won! (*grin*)

Bits and I consulted, and we decided that we needed to make this a more regular kind of playdate. As members of the same tribe (Sisters of Extra Large Goobers) we have a LOT in common. And, she reminds me of my buddy, Izzie from the Corgi Lounge!

Making frens and influencing goobers,

Stella

Flamingos v Gnomes

It is a well-known fact that I have an immense respect for pink flamingos, and...

... you would have thought that flamingos could really kick some gnome booty.

funny pictures of cats with captions

You would have been wrong.

On a brighter note, we received an award!!! Buster, Sephie & Bailey the Kerry Blue Terriers passed this fun award on to us!

The award states: "This blog invests and believes in PROXIMITY -- nearness in space, time and relationships!" In other words, blogs that receive this award "are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

We'll Go 'Round in Circles from Goober Stan on Vimeo.

Thank you Sephie, Buster & Bailey! We will proudly display this award and share it with these goober friends:

Madison, Ruby, Winnie Woo, Janie the Airegirl, Mr. T-Bone Beaseley, Sherman Penny & Lola, Bob T. Bear esq, and Dilly! We love you guys!

Gainful Employment

Stella & I both have new jobs. We're working with Eduardo, the Snuggle Puggle.

We're not quite sure what our job descriptions are yet, but thought we'd start with some basic snuggling.

We're a day late showing up for our work assignment, but like Eduardo says, "it's hard working for the man."

Goobs Gone Green

Here in GooberStan, we have made a commitment to make our lives greener than they were last year.

To that end, we are starting small, by having our hooman girl use only reusable grocery bags.

Of course, if they're going to carry our eatables, they're going to have to pass a series of goober stress tests. Goober slime and gnawing test... check.

Volume and weight test... check.

Tug test... check.

Let's try that volume test again... check. These bags will hold 2 1/2 Stellanators and then some. (Don't ask how I know about the 1/2 of a Stellanator.)

We pronounce these bags goober tough. With the amount of regular plastic bags our hooman girl has been known to collect in one year, the switch to reusable bags should make a dent in the plastic waste in our corner of the world.

Every journey starts with the first step. Here's to a greener GooberStan!

Love,

Stanley
