Goober Girl Goes to Prom & P.G.A.

In the little hamlet adjacent to GooberStan, they have a 60 year old tradition on prom night. They have what they call a Prom Walk, where all the high school aged hoomans parade from the center of town to the high school, dressed in their finest. The whole town comes out to cheer them on and see who's wearing what and walking with whom. (It's a hotbed of gossip, I tell ya.)

Believe it or not, while Stella is not a bit shy with other animals, she IS a little shy when she first meets new hoomans. So, since I went to the Prom Walk last year, my girl decided to take Stella this year to give her a chance to practice her hooman-meeting-skills. Wouldn't you know, she got a few prom dates out of the deal.

This is Jessie. It took him awhile to gain Stella's trust, but once he did, she was willing to pose with her "date". He even sneaked in a few smooches during the photo shoot. (Don't worry, Taffy. She's just being polite to these boys and promoting relations between their town & GooberStan... kind of a goodwill tour. You are still her boy!)

This is Noah, one of Lady Bug's hooman brothers. He was willing to ditch his date if Stella would only say yes to going with him to prom.

He is transported by the prospect of a night of dancing with the Stellanator. (She, on the other paw, spotted a tiny hooman toddling around with a cookie in her hand.)

This is Noah's oldest brother, Seth. He was just there to witness the festivities, but he couldn't resist posing with Stella. (She doesn't look too distraught about the puparazzi either.)

Just so you know, Stella didn't break any girl's hearts by taking these boys up on their offers to escort her to prom. She's an ardent feminist and would never turn on her sistahs!

Now for a Public Goober Announcement from the head goober.

My birthday is next weekend, and while I love presents and treats as much as the next pup, I know I'm pretty spoiled already. Plus, your love and admAireration are more than enough. So, if you feel the itch to send me a present, please consider helping out a local animal shelter or doing something for a local rescue group in place of the present. Being a rescue dog myself, I know not all pups have it as good as I do.

If you've already gotten the present or sent it out, of course, I'm more than happy to accept your gracious gift. But as I'm nearing the ripe mature age of 2, I'm more and more thankful for my hoogirl, my sissy, my Mervcat, and for all of you pups, kitties and hammies who are my friends! That's enough for me.

There. I said it. Now go enjoy this spring weather!

Goober love,
Stanley

Our human girl's hometown had something like this too called The Grand March, but it was inside so no dogs allowed. Stella looked totally happy to be there, and those handsome boys sure seemed to love her! I think Noah's hair really went with Stellas.

That walk is kind of weird I think but then what can you say about humans. they are odd. Glad Stella got some human interaction. I bet all those boys would have taken her home if they could have. I can't believe you are getting so old already Stan man.

Stella sure has lots of boyfriends now! It looks like she did just fine meeting new peepol! You are such a generous Goober to ask everyone to send contributions to rescues instead of sending you presents. We will make a donation to the Airedale Rescue Group in your honor! We hope you have a pawsome birthday!

Oh, and tell Stella, yes I will do shows with my brother Mick, but he will be in the boy classes, and me in the girl! If we were lucky enough to both win our class, we could meet for best puppy, but me no thinks me will get that far!

Wow, that is kinda cool what the hoomans do on Prom night there. Stella looked like she got along with the boys very well. She didn't look shy not one bit. My mum is so thankful for the Spring weather now. She hated the cold.
Are you going to have a party Stan?

Prom Walk sounds like a great idea! It looks like the weather was perfect it, too.

How fun that Stella got to be a part of it this year. AND she didn't even have to dress up. AND the boys loved her.

Um...I'm not sure how I feel about my little Stella Louella sharing the company of so many dashing young men.

I have way more fur, a WAY better personality (I'm sure) and will share my big donut bed with her...without a single grump.

Come on Stella...I'm a much bigger (boned) man than those chaps.

Don't worry. I'm not being stalked. Well, I am being stalked by the orange cat down the street who is trying to have me whacked, but that has nothing to do with blogging. But we are moving still movig. Not because of the orange cat, but because mom really wants walls and proper rooms.

So we're getting a 6 1/2, which in language the rest of the world understands means six actual rooms (2 bedrooms and a den) with a bathroom (the 1/2). Except that we actually get two 1/2s, because it is an old-style Montreal apartment with the toilet in one room and the other amenities in another. They should really call it a 7, except that people would think it had no 1/2 at all and might start peeing on the sidewalk. Well, I do, so I don't get what the big deal is.

Anyway, are you confused yet?

We are moving in May, but mom is also working her butt off on a big contract, so she hasn't had much time for my blog lately. That and she's supposed to be writing a thesis for her second master's, but hasn't written a word! Yikes. She is a bad role model.

Okay, hope that clears up some confusion, my manly Stanley. I can't wait for your b-day and hope you will be in the giant chat for it!

I went right over to Wallys blog and invited him to send a pic for the contest...He seems like a really nice doggie. Thank you for introducing us. I don't like to be groomed, so I think my mum mentioned taking me somewhere and having someone else do it..I am kinda freaked about it. I like looking scraggly.

Hi Stanley!~ You sure a busy pimping out your sister as a good will ambassador for Gooberstan...but I guess she should learn her duties young...

Also...That pic of the kitty on my bloggy was taken AFTER I chased it...it came right back out & then my mom/secretary was able to snap a pic...I don't know what I'd do if I'd catch a little kitty..but everyone has told me to watch out for my nose...I'll have to remember that..

One more thing...I think I saw that your mama likes Duran Duran on your profiles page? I know they are touring this summer..they are gonna be in San Diego on May 8th ..better check the internetty to see if they will be in Gooberstan soon!

Love & Licks,
Randi

ps..no wrasslin yet with little friend Mona...hopefully soon!

Hey Stanley, the whole prom thing is a bit strange for us in the UK as we don't really do it here. Stella seemed in her element though!

If it's OK with you, I'll make a donation to the Dog's Trust here in the UK in honour of your birthday. They're a shelter who never put a healthy dog to sleep so they get the paws up from me. J x
