Flying Solo

Could you resist this face? (That's right. I'm actually biting the hand that fees me ~ try to ignore that little fact and concentrate the FACE).

Well, apparently several people and doggies CAN resist this face, and DID resist this face (and the dog that goes with it) two different times when I went to the dogpark this weekend. I've never had trouble like this before. It didn't matter what dog I approached ~ male, female, large, small ~ no takers! I think I'm rather fetching, but watch this pathetic video if you want proof of my resist-ability.

I took a shine to this little white puff dog. He wasn't interested either, not even after I put the royal paw mark on him. (He was a pristine white color when he arrived at the park ~ I thought that was just WRONG).

I contemplated retreating into my alter ego, the Loch Ness Goober, but that seemed an even lonelier route to take. (Notice how shadowy the park became as the Loch Ness Goob emerged...)

So I left the watery lair of the LN Goob and went on a hike around the park trails with my girl. At least I knew she wanted to be with me. Notice how when I came to her I went between her legs? That's a sure sign I'm feeling a little needy.

As we were heading for the gate to leave I spotted some terrier-looking folk. Upon closer investigation I found not 1, but 3 terrier brothers just waiting to be noticed ~ a Giant Schnauzer named Baron, and his 2 mini schnauzer brothers. Baron just had surgery to remove one of his front legs about 6 weeks ago (he has cancer). You'd never know it. He was running and playing like there was no tomorrow. His 2 little brothers were cool, but one of them does NOT like to have his booty sniffed. I found that out the hard way.

Anyway, my girl just parked herself next to the schnauzers and gave 2 of them Atomic Booty Scratches while I played with the 3rd one, then they'd all switch. It worked until it was too dark to play anymore. (Due to the frequency and ferocity of the Atomic Booty Scratches, my camera person was unable to capture any of this on film).

Whatcha gonna do? Good help is hard to find sometimes.

All in all, I still had a good time flying solo at the park, but I'd have to say the Fun Factor increased exponentially when I was able to add a few friends to the mix.

Goober love,
Stanley

Awww, Stanley...sometimes flying solo is just the way to go...why did that dog wear white to the doggie park? Doesn't he know that white after Labor Day is just not stylish? I like the black...nice contrast...

Stanley, dogs who wear white to dog parks (especially dog parks with water) are just asking for trouble. Sorry Wiry Foxes...I've seen the mess Scruffy gets into...Did the teeney schnauzer snap at you for posterior sniffies?? I am closely connected with a foxy wire who does that and it's just so embarassing. Um...Stanley...I'm allowed to date this Saturday. I'll be 7 months...so it's an early curfew. Asta sez you can have lots of girlfriends...so...I'm glad we worked that out. Scruff's 18 months tomorrow. He also peed on the french doors in the living room today. Mumsie called him a bad name. Hey Stan,
I'm pretty much a loner at the park too. Guess the other dogs were too threatened by your good looks and hence, decided not to play with ya. How ridiculous!

Nobody wanted to play with you? Awww...That's just so sad! Maybe it's becoz they all are smaller then you or you're just too big for them. They are scared that you will trample them but I know you won't. Right? It's ok. We're here & if you need a friend to play with, call me!

That is the saddest video ever, Stanley.... *sigh*

Fig sits between our girl's legs too when she's unsure of herself - usually at the vet'narin's office. (And don't tell her I told you, but she shakes so hard that she almost falls over there! Ha!)

Why would anyone not want to play with you? You must have felt horrible.

I think you did a good job on the white dog. All dogs have to be at least a little dirty. ;)

Gosh, Stanley, you have so much fun outside. I do not like to go outside. I think it is dangerous.

Stanley, When I take up residence in Gooberstan, I promise to make sure every dog in the park makes extra time for you. After all, you are the GooberStan. Unfortunately, I will only be able to fulfill that duty when not swimming in your amazing swimming park. Oh my DOG! I would be in such heaven, you don't even know.

wally said...

Stan--What a bunch of snobs! They were probably just intimidated thinking a dog THAT cool wouldn't want to hang with their pristine white selves. Well, I will play chase with you only the internet but only if I get to chase you and if you go slow. My legs are a little short.

wally.

ps. I don't WATCH the wet t-shirt contests I'm IN them. With Winston Churchill and Willie Nelson. Woody Allen picks a winner.

A Dog Park sounds like such fun. All we have around here are the farm critters to mingle with. Some of those are more fun than others.
